Dansk Sundhedssikring experienced a massive growth in customers in 2021
In 2021, Denmark's largest provider of health insurance, Dansk Sundhedssikring, continued the previous years' massive growth in the number of customers. The company thus achieved an increase of as much as 32 per cent in the number of customers, which now includes approx. 445,000 persons.
"Once more, we have had great growth in the number of insured in 2021 while we were able to maintain our high service standards and continue product development," says CEO of Dansk Sundhedssikring, Kent Jensen.
The increase contributed to the total premium income increasing from DKK 411 million in 2020 to DKK 500 million in 2021. Profit before tax landed at DKK 67 million and was thus at the high end of what was expected for the year.
"Dansk Sundhedssikring continues to benefit from our position in the market as the largest and only specialized health insurance company in Denmark, and therefore we can expand the distance to our competitors year after year. We have also had great growth in the number of insured in 2021 while we were able to maintain our high service standards and continue product development," says CEO of Dansk Sundhedssikring, Kent Jensen, who adds that the company continues to invest to further strengthen its leading position.
New groundbreaking products
The company will launch new groundbreaking products on the Danish market in 2022; the first new product 'Family 360' has just been introduced on the market. Family 360 provides health advice in connection with serious illness to the whole family seen in a very broad perspective. The insurance thus covers both the person who takes out the insurance and their cohabitant or spouse, children from both current and former partners and up to four grandparents regardless of age.
In 2021, Dansk Sundhedssikring also improved the company's telephone service to customers, at the same time as Dansk Sundhedssikring introduced a self-service portal where customers could be digitally referred to the right treatment. The digital solution was positively received, and many chose to find their treatment through the new online offer.
Digitization will continue in 2022 to improve both customer service and optimize internal operations to support continued growth in 2022. Premium income in 2022 is expected to end up at DKK 590-615 million while the result before tax is budgeted to be DKK 90-110 million.
Great emphasis on professionalism
Dansk Sundhedssikring places great emphasis on the professionalism of the employees, who are therefore continuously trained to be able to provide service to customers in the best possible way. The number of full-time employees increased by 30 to 154 during 2021. A high level of customer satisfaction with the customer service and other services provided by Dansk Sundhedssikring meant that only 2.3 per cent of the Danish customers chose to change from Dansk Sundhedssikring during the year.
As the year before, 2021 was marked by the corona pandemic and together with the strike among nurses, it put pressure on the public health system. At Dansk Sundhedssikring, this meant an increase in the number of insured who were referred for treatment in private hospitals. The pandemic also affected mental health, and in this area thus Dansk Sundhedssikring sees increased use of psychologists.
